Organisers of the ‘Flann O’Brien Literary Arts Festival’ were delighted to welcome hundreds of “flannoraks” to the festival in Strabane and Lifford, which was hailed as an enormous success. Over three days, audiences from as far away as Glasgow were treated to a feast of entertainment, literary discussions and visual treats featuring all things Flann O’Brien.

The cross-border event, which took place at various venues in Lifford and Strabane on October 3rd to 5th, was co-ordinated by i2 Total Marketing and celebrated the life and works of one of the key players in 20th century Irish literature, Flann O’Brien, who was born Brian O’Nolan in Strabane.

Logan Mc Cool, Chairman of the Festival organisers the de Selby Institute said: “We have been overwhelmed by the success of this year’s festival, which appears to have put Strabane’s Flann O’Brien connection firmly on the literary map. Apart from having visitors come to the festival from Scotland, we had numerous enquiries and wishes of good luck from Flann fans from as far away as Germany and Quebec. This has given us great encouragement to build on these successes for next year’s festival”.
